Why I’m putting my foot down
Pete's Posse is walking to raise funds for pancreatic cancer because it is a cause close to our hearts. Our much loved husband and uncle passed away at the way too young age of 55, only 6 months after diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer deaths in Australia with a very low survival rate of only 11.5%. There has been very little change in this statistic for over 30 years as researchers grapple with the challenges of finding more effective diagnosis and treatment options.
Part of the challenge is that pancreatic cancer receives very little funding because it has been placed in the “too hard” basket for many years but those affected by this disease deserve an equal chance of survival to those diagnosed with other high profile cancers.
